This kit provides a rapid and highly reproducible way to purify viral nucleic acid from 250 ml of body fluid, including plasma, serum, ascites, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, cell culture supernatant, etc. During lysis, proteins and PCR inhibitors are removed by denaturation and precipitation. Viral nucleic acids remain soluble in the supernatant and are purified by binding to a special AxyPrep column. After brief washes to remove residual impurities and salt, the purified viral nucleic acid is eluted and can be used immediately. The viral nucleic acid purified by this method is free from contaminants, such as proteins, pigments, lipids and PCR/RT-PCR inhibitors, and it is especially suitable for demanding PCR/RT-PCR analyses.
