This Protein Crystallization Screen has been designed by Armando Villaseñor and Seth Harris (Roche) expanding on the work by Tran et al1 to enable statistical evaluation of crystallization trials. The screen places emphasis on the three most efficient precipitants (Ammonium Sulfate, Malonate and PEG) 2 both in isolation and in combination with a 2nd precipitant (MPD, NaCI, Peg 400, Peg 8K, and 2-propanol).
1) “I set up all the 6 screens on Wednesday, and I am happy to tell you that I got a total of 24 hits for one of my proteins, mostly in (Initial Screen) sets III and IV (All PEGs).”
